Emergency Resources for Guard, Reserve, Active Duty Soldiers

DTOM and American Red Cross Emergency Assistance

If you are currently stationed overseas, in active combat, or combat zone and you are experiencing a crisis here at home with family, housing, or at your current duty station, please call us and we can get an emergency message started for you through the American Red Cross that will be filtered up through your chain of command (command staff) up to the Battalion.  We have worked with a number of soldiers to get their affairs in order back here at home, and can help with a variety of things: 


Mental Hygiene/ Mental health checks (we can work with you and your command staff remotely) until we can get you active command assistance.  

A.  Housing assistance

B. Care of family while you are away

C. Transportation assistance

D. Food assistance and an array of other services to help your family while you are away.  


In order for us to process your emergency with the American Red Cross we will need: 


Service member information    

1. Full legal name Rank/rating Branch of service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) 

2. Social Security number 

3. Date of Birth Military 

4. Unit address Information about the deployed unit and home base unit (for deployed service members 

     only) 

5. Information about the emergency    

6. Name and contact for the immediate family member experiencing the emergency (could be spouse,   

     parent, child/grandchild, or grandparent) 

7. Nature of the emergency 

8. Where the emergency can be verified (hospital, doctors office, funeral home) 

9. Who Is Eligible to Receive Emergency Communications? 


Service members eligible to receive emergency communications regarding an immediate family member include:    

- On active duty in the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard 

- An activated member of the Guard and Reserve of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces 

- A civilian employed by or under contract to the Department of Defense and stationed outside the  

   Continental United States 

- A cadet or midshipman at a service academy; ROTC cadet on orders for training A Merchant Marine 

   aboard a U.S. Naval Ship
